Volcanic grassland and the hottest tourist season in Inner Mongolia
Why this place
Ulanqab is the grassland closest to Beijing, which makes it busy in summer. Its distinctive feature is volcanic: the Gobi volcano group has a cluster of intact cones with dark basalt and green grass, and the Huitengxile grassland has wind farms on the ridges.
