Why this place

Suqian is on the old course of the Yellow River and is known in China for two things: a very large liquor industry (Yanghe and Shuanggo brands) and Lake Luoma, a clear lake with good bird habitat.

What to see

• Lake Luoma and the wetland park, with lotus in summer and birds in migration
• The Yanghe distillery, which is a genuine visitor attraction in China
• The old canal and Yellow River course through the county

What to eat

• Yanghe daqu baijiu — the local spirit
• Luoma lake fish and crab
